Crime statistics of Douglas County

Around 180 cases of property crimes and 18 cases of violent crimes were investigated by Douglas County Police in 2019. The annual crime average was 198 incidents, as compared to the 210 complaints recorded in 2018.

Four cases of rape, one case of robbery, and thirteen cases of serious assault were among the 18 violent crime cases. There were 50 burglaries, 114 larceny-theft reports, and 16 motor vehicle theft complaints among the 180 property crime incidents.

During the interval studied, 7 years before 2008, there was a drastic increase in crime, almost 70%. You must bear in mind that the whole county’s population is about 36,000, so a couple hundred more crimes can make a huge percentage. In relation to similar counties in Minnesota, Douglas County has one of the lowest rates of all criminal complaints. Violent crime increased by about 20%, but over 7 years, the county experienced less than 200 violent crimes.
